6.0 Powerstroke OEM+ Upgrade

The factory intercooler on the 6.0 Powerstroke has plastic end tanks which are prone to bursting when boost levels are turned up, ie. when tuning is added. CSF's OEM+ intercooler is a factory upgrade with heavy duty aluminum end tanks to prevent bursting. While it doesn't necessarily provide any performance benefits over the factory intercooler it is a great replacement option for old and worn factory intercoolers. If you have an old and clogged factory intercooler you will notice improved flow and lower EGTs and engine temps with this upgrade. 

All-in-all, this is a great replacement intercooler for the 6.0, but isn't really recommended if you're looking for a performance upgrade with improved flow and cooling capacity.

Using the CSF 6.0 OEM+ Intercooler in a 7.3L Powerstroke

One of the most popular budget routes for 7.3 Powerstroke intercooler upgrades is to swap in a 6.0 intercooler. Since the factory 6.0 intercoolers have plastic end tanks and are all pretty old at this point we recommend avoiding that route and instead using this CSF 6.0 Powerstroke OEM+ intercooler as an upgrade for your 7.3 Powerstroke.

The 6.0 intercooler is about 30% larger than the factory 7.3 intercooler making this CSF 6013 option a great performance upgrade for people looking for a good bang-for-your-buck option. These intercoolers are extremely high quality making them a great in-between upgrade for those that don't need the cooling power of a full upgrade like the Banks Power or CSF Heavy Duty intercooler for the 7.3.

Overall, if you are looking for solid performance gains at a great price this is the best bang for your buck. If you want to maximize performance we recommend getting a full CSF or Banks upgrade - but if you are on the factory turbo and just running some basic mods like tuning, intake, and an exhaust then this is a great option.

These are almost direct factory bolt-ins but do require some additional hardware, here are the fitment notes:

1994-1997 OBS 7.3's

The CSF 6013 OEM+ intercooler does fit the OBS trucks but requires a longer 3" silicone boot/connector and an intercooler mounting bracket kit. Please not we do not sell either of these items.

1999-2003 7.3's

Since the 1999+ 7.3 Powerstrokes came with an intercooler from the factory, you do not need a mounting kit. All you need is a longer 3" boot/connector to make this a direct drop-in replacement. Please note we do not sell the larger 3" connector.
