LLY Duramax Downpipe

Duramax LLY's are prone to overheating, especially when towing or when tuned. One of the best ways to reduce engine temps and EGTs is by opening the exhaust up with a higher flowing system that reduces backpressure. Backpressure acts against the turbo, making it more difficult to spool which negatively impacts turbo efficiency and creates excess heat in the engine and exhaust.

The downpipe bolts directly to the turbocharger and the factory unit is skinny and crushed which restricts exhaust flow. Since it is the first component of the exhaust system removing the restriction within the downpipe is hands down the best exhaust upgrade for the LLY. It won't provide the sound gains that a 4" or 5" exhaust system will but it will provide better heat reduction and performance gains compared to a larger exhaust system.

Our Duramax LLY Downpipe Upgrade is a 3" design that drastically increases airflow over the stock unit. It is made of 304 stainless steel to prevent any rust or corrosion and features a heat shield to minimize heat transfer. It is a direct bolt-on fitment to both the factory and aftermarket exhaust systems and doesn't require any tuning or additional modifications.

Note that our downpipe will not provide significant sound increases. If you want sound increases we suggest a 4" or 5" exhaust system which is also a great modification to further increase exhaust flow, reduce backpressure, and help prevent overheating + turbocharger issues.
